Scotty loves people, he is gentle, kind, smart, and
always trusting. He passes on his superb disposition to his foals.
Scotty knickers every time he sees someone, almost as if to say "Come
say hi to me, don't you see me?". Scotty is a super easy keeper, he has
no bad habits what so ever. Even when he is nervous about something he
always looks to one of us for assurance. He does not need are harsh
hand, a soft voice is all it takes to calm him when he is nervous.
Scotty is never difficult to catch, most of the time he catches you. He
has a great disposition!
Confirmation
Powerful, and strong, yet correct in every way. Scotty
has a beautiful head, fantastic hip, his legs are straight, he has a
clean throat latch, deep V chest, and very well balanced. He passes on
his beautiful head and great hip. Scotty also has an AMAZING mane and
tail, he puts this thick beautiful mane and tail on his babies.
Scotty may have amazing color, but he looks just as
good as a bay:
He even looks good in his winter coat (he was pulled
straight out of his paddock for these pictures. no grooming at all.):
Color
Just to add to the package, Scotty carries the rare
Champagne gene. He passes on the Champagne 87% of the time. His coat looks like it
shimmers in the sunlight. He is not just any color,
he is RARE color. So if you want rare color, Scotty's got that
covered.
Breeding
Scotty is also 93% foundation. He is a great grandson of
Leo, and possibly the only great grandson that carries the champagne
gene. More in his blood lines are
Poco Bueno x2, Poco Prince, Old Tom Cat, Joe Reed II, Joe Reed,
Three Bars, Robin Reed, Poco McCue, Hard Twist, all within a
6 generation pedigree.
Competition
Sadly Scotty was not show due to the fact he was not
handled until he was 6 years old, so that put him late in life to start
training for an event. But he has what it takes for sure. Scottys foals
are competing in Halter, and working cow horses. Scotty is very agile
and quick on his feet, he has the cow instinct. He chases the dogs
around his corral all the time, (the dogs have gotten where they just
stay out of his corral). He does pin his ears at them and chase them
out. Scotty's foals are showing excellent potential.

Offspring
Scotty's foals are smart, gentle, athletic, and
versatile. His foals are doing all types of things, from family pets, to
halter, to ranch work. Here is what some have said about his foals:
"The two
fillies are now 2 years old. Both are wonderful horses,
easily trained and athletic! They seemed to be born
"bombproof" and
never required any extensive desensitizing to the tarp, whip,
spooky
stuff etc. Once we had their trust, it was 100%.
They both have the
moves to make cow horses and the temperament to be all arounds.
We
follow Natural Horsemanship methods to a certain extent and use
Clinton Anderson as our training guide. We have taken both the
girls on their first "away from home" travel in the trailer,
TRAIL RIDE. They were awesome! you would have never
guessed that they are only 2 year olds. They behaved like
seasoned
trail horses. You literally could have put a beginner on
their
backs. We were very impressed. They were willing to
take the lead or
follow, go up steep inclines and down rocky embankments all with
no
nervousness or being jumpy. They are truly awesome."
"His first show was at a local FFA show, and he performed
great - it rained, thundered and lightening for part of the day and he didn't
even flick a hair- won most of his classes"
"Ivory has perfect conformation, is sound and healthy in
every way, has excellent manners and moves like a champion."
"Star
is a real nice amber champagne quarter pony mare. She has a very pretty head,
neck and correct conformation. She stands 13.3 hands. She has been ridden many
miles on trail, is kid friendly and loves attention."
